Vårstart av pool - Guide

Pool startup in spring - Guide

When restarting your pool after a long winter, it's important to start it correctly. Follow this guide and you'll be able to enjoy your pool and have a successful swimming season.

1. Reassemble pool components

  • Reassemble all pool components that were removed when winterizing your pool.

2. Close drain valves

  • Close all drain valves and reassemble drain plugs on your sand filter, pump, and chlorinators.

3. Fill with water

  • Fill the pool until the water level is ⅔ of the skimmer opening.

4. Start the pump

  • Before starting the pump, make sure there is water in the pump housing for the skimmer basket; if there isn't, fill it. It is important never to start it without water as it can be damaged.

5. Open valves to suction, return, and drain

  • Open valves to suction, return, and drain outlets.

6. Set the sand filter

  • Set the sand filter's multiport valve to the filtration position and start the pump.
  • You can backwash the filter if needed as a first step.

To backwash the filter, do the following:

  • Set the multiport valve to "Backwash".
  • It is important that the pump is always turned off when changing the position of the multiport valve.
  • Let the pump suck the air out of the suction line by starting it.
  • This may take a few minutes.
  • Then, water will flow through the sight glass on the central valve's drain outlet.
  • Flush for 1-2 minutes or until the water in the sight glass is clear.

Stop the pump and turn the handle to "rinse".

  • Then start the pump and flush for 15-30 seconds.
  • Stop the pump again and turn the handle to "Filter," which is the normal operating mode.
  • Measure the pH value of the water and adjust it to 7.0-7.4.
  • Shock chlorinate via the skimmer so that the chlorine level is 2 ppm /mg/l.
  • For repeated chlorine dosing, wait 3 hours before testing again to allow all chlorine to dissolve.
  • One day later, clean the pool floor and walls.

7. Check that you have chemicals at home.

  • If you have leftover chemicals from last year, use these first.

8. Measure and adjust the pH value

Measure and adjust the pH value to 7.2-7.6. Chlorinate with shock chlorine via the skimmer to a chlorine level of 2 ppm (mg/l). For repeated chlorine dosing, wait 3 hours between each test for the chlorine to dissolve. Adjust to the recommended chlorine level. After 24 hours, brush clean the pool floor and walls and vacuum the pool bottom.
